Are head space indicator tools worth buying one?

They are to those of us who buy them and use them correctly. Otherwise, no.

If you trying to bump shoulders by 1 - 2 thousands when FL sizing your brass, then I would definitely use one, I also use one to sort my brass, also I use it as an indicator when FL sizing is required, I set my chamber tight and brass only has 2- 3 thousands to grow before FL resizing...
