i bought this Sako varmint rifle several years ago as new. At the same time I also bought an old Kimber of America in 17 Remington. The Kimber got played with, the Sako didn't. It only got a scope mounted then stuck in the safe for several years. I just took it out a couple months ago to run 16 rounds I developed for the Kimber.

Even with a load built for a different rifle, the Sako ran 1/2 or less MOA. It clearly shots as older Sako's typically do. Someone dedicated a load for it and knot hole would be made.

Work I had down when I bought it: My Smith professionally bedded it, and the trigger was lightened to a hair over 2lbs.

Stock is a rubbed oil finish. Has those spinning sling studs that prevent sling from twisting up. All metal is 99%, bolt is excellent only showing demarcation from the 16 rounds I fired. Comes with bases attached...I believe I have some original New older Sako rings in medium height that I would add for $60 dollars more.

Crown is perfect without significant burn marks. Stock is in 98% condition with only one area next to the front swivel where safe movement had bumped this spot. Not cracked, small impressions that I assume could be ironed out by someone with these skills.

I never considered this rig a collection piece. I was going to use it for varmints...Never did, though. It's never been outta my safe except to shoot a few rounds.

Pictures can tell a better story...These Sako's in 17 Remington don't come up for sale very often, and when they do they're either well used and cost a lot or in pristine condition and cost a lot more.

I'm downsizing after deciding I'm not shooting enough of certain calibers to justify constantly moving them in and out of my safe to reach something else.

Last thing, I'm not a Sako collector. I just own several because of their reputation for being a fine example of older manufacturing that gave excellent accuracy. If you have collectible questions, I won't have the answers for you. I just buy them, shoot them, or put them in my safe until I find a need to hunt one.

Price is $1350 shipped to your FFL. Make sure your FFL will receive from me-a non-FFL, or an additional $60 dollars will be added to the price for the fee my FFL charges for his paperwork.

I believe I have the original Sako box...I will look. If I do it will ship in it. If not the Sako will ship in a hardcase well protected.

Dies, bullets, powders, etc are not available with this rifle.

Preferred payment is PayPal F&F or Fees paid by you. I will take USPS Money Order/Bank Cashiers Check as long as I receive payment within 5 days of buying saying ITI.

I will provide tracking information via PM once the rifle ships...Thanks!

Are the Sako dovetails actually drilled and tapped or are those just tension screws through the Weaver mounts?

Have you posted this on the Sako Collectors Club site? I haven't seen it over there.
