Shot the ar-30 338 lapua for the first time today and I love it. Load was max. of retumbo 104gr. and 200gr ballistic tip. Didn't shoot for groups, just dialed it in @ 25yds, then 100yds, then let loose on the steel. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif Didn't have drop charts on me, but managed to hit the 1,000 yd gong using the horus scope in a couple shots. My first hit @ 1,000 yds.
Now my only problem is I need to find a longer range. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif

Here is a pic, or at least an attempt at one.

Pics didn't work, oh well.
It was 1" high @ 100yds. The horus scope system is a grid of 2/10's moa hash marks(kinda mil-dot meets graph papper). It was on line six down, and one to the right for wind, @ 1K. This "holdover" system lets me shot at almost any range, within the max. eff. range of this cal., without any adjustemt. Here is a link... a pic is worth...

Local Hardware store had an AR-30. I put money down with clerk to hold it but it got sold anyway. Went to the range following day and there it was sitting on a bench. A teenager was shooting it. His Dad had given it to him for his 17th birthday. He shoots long range compatition. He let me shoot it. It was real nice. No recoil! Felt somewhere between a 223 and a 243. I shot a three shot two inch group at 300 yards, with Black Hills ammo.
