The battery compartment and dial for the illumination make it a heavier and bulkier scope too. I do tend to be shooting right at first light but even so have not yet needed illumination. In Michigan, center fire rifles are prohibited at night, otherwise I might well be using my 243 on coyotes at night. I do know that many states do not have these nanny state restrictions on private land.</p></blockquote><p></p>
