Over the last few months I have been doing some work on my 300 RUM. I finally got the scope mounted tonight and I am pleased with how it turned out. (of course I haven't shot it yet). I am happy to say that anything custom on this gun, I have done myself, and it was my first time doing any of it.

rem700 sps stainless 300 RUM
timney trigger
B&C stock
Viper PST 6-24x50mm
glass bedded
lugs lapped
rings lapped

Let me know what you guys think, the good, the bad, and the ugly please. I know the bedding job could have been better, but it was my first go at it and it was really fun so I will be doing it again in the future on other firearms.

I think the pictures have uploaded, but Im not sure...

Yes I bought it because I thought I would like the higher comb. So far it feels nice, but I haven't shot it yet.

The best way to do it is to just start doing it. Looks to me like you are on the right track. Can't really tell from the picture but did you bed the barrel also? Usually these days the barrel is floated but some of the old school guys had good luck bedding clear to the end of the stock, especially with light barrels.

Keep it up and hope it shoots for you. gun)

Yes, there is bedding compound in the barrel channel. The B&C stock needed the barrel channel opened up for the magnum contour barrel. So I taped the barrel up with a few layers of tape to make sure it would float once it was bedded. That way the bedding sealed the open pores in the barrel channel. As u can see, I probably should have added more compound in there because it looks rather sloppy. But the barrel floats all the way back to about an inch in front of the recoil lug.
