I just bought another box of 308 Federal Gold Medal Match 168 gr SMK bullets from another dealer. They didn't shoot as good as the last box so when I got home I broke one of them down. I had already noticed that the first box had the green primer sealer around the primer and the second box didn't. The powder in the two shells were not the same. The new powder weighed 42.7 gr. instead of 43.4 gr. and the grains were .003" larger in diameter and almost twice as long. The picture below left is of the original powder and the one on the right is the new powder. It's no wonder we can't figure out which powder they use. They use more than one type for the same shell. I bought some Reloader 15 for the SMK 168s. At least that way I'll know what's in my shells.
