DIY Headspace gauge

Anybody make their own headspace gauge and have tips to share. I'm about start one for 308 family of cases but shorter for old hunter benchrest 30x47 and maybe 7x47. Thanks

True, they are cheap but a once fire case with one layer of scotch tape on the back will get you out of a pinch

I use a 40 S&W or 10mm auto case. The mouth of the case is 0.400" which is the same as the datum on the case shoulder.

Thanks for responses. Yes they are cheap enough for normal rounds. I want to do some wildcatting, have the equipment, and like the diy challenge.

Made up my own headspace GO gauge, on the left and factory on right. Will use for 308 and 7-08 shortened 1/10". New cases will be similar to old 30x47 and 7x47 used in Hunter Benchrest.
