Coastal Blacktail or Muley?

I killed my first deer in 1974 on Camp Pendleton Marine Base which is on the coast north of San Diego CA. Would that deer be a Coastal Blacktail Deer or a Mule Deer? Just wondering.

We have always said a deer killed west of i5 was considered a blacktail, especially if you look at genetics.
