ok new guy here with a few questions. i have some ideas form 24 hr campfire and snipers hide, but that was mainly on other parts of my rifle. i got a winney 70 that is now in 300 RUM. i wanted to build a 33 lapua and have been advised on that in my action. so naturally the 338 RUM would be my next choice, but strictly for velocity and BC could i be better to build a 300 RUM for shooting the 220 and 240 MKs? or would the 338 with 250 and 300 MKs be better. i plan on no game being shot at with this rifle, unless crow counts.

recoil is of no concern. i have had 300 RUM and Saum in lighter rifles.

Hello, and welcome aboard!

If I were torn like you are between the 300 and 338 in RUM, I would see about designing a 338 RUM improved. Maybe neck up the 300 to 338 and blow out the shoulders. Maybe lengthen the neck??? I think and improved version of the 338 RUM would be spectacular.

If I had to go with factory chamberings, I would stick with the 300 RUM.

Regards!
