To Date, the BEST Caliber and Bullet for Wolves ( so far ) IS,..
The .270 WSM out of, a Tikka T-3, 24" bbl.,... shooting 140 grain, AccuBonds !
A Young man, in North Central Idaho, Killed TWO with,.. ONE Shot !
Accubonds are kind of, a "Hard" Bullet ( smallish Mushroom ) and fully penetrated 1st Wolf ( he ran, a couple hundred yards, leaking Blood ) and the Bullet "Flattened" the 2nd Wolf,.. on the Spot !
My .270 WSM will be loaded with, 140 Classic hunt. Bergers for Elk and IF, I get Lucky and see another Wolf,.. I'll let you guys know, how IT works !
Personally, I Like an Expanding Bullet in .243 / 6mm or, Larger as, they are Tough and can be 200-300 yards or MORE, away !
Most Wolves, shot in Idaho, are by "chance" by, Deer & Elk Hunters,.. back IN, and away from, roads / People.
I've seen two, while Archery Hunting Elk, 2+ miles in from, the Truck / Road.
