I am having a custom 30-378 Wby mag built off my Wby Mark V stainless action. I will be having it short throated and will be loading with Retumbo. Here is the question. 107 gr of Retumbo behind a 155 gr Sheroco II to gain optimum burn and velocity how long should the riflied part of the barrel be ( from end of throat to muzzle)? I am sure there will be varying opinions but all are welcome at this point. I will say my initial thought is between 27 and 28 inches of actual rifling after chambering. Thanks in advance. Using a Krieger .308 stainless 5R 1 in 10 twist if that helps.
