Mine is a 28" 1:12 twist. I find this to be the optimal twist for a 155-190 grain bullets. I am getting great results with the 168 Nosler Ballistic Tip. I am going to order some 168 Berger Hybrids and give them a run to 1000yds. With a BC of .519 and being the Hybrid design, I have high hopes for this bullet at that distance. I would say 24-26" would be a good carry length weight barrel. Mine is a Savage varmint contour. No flutes. Thinking about your application a 24" would be the best fit. It gives you enough length to get you as far as you want to shoot, w/o suffering any major muzzle velocity loss. Using RL15, AR Comp, or Varget will get you to around 2600-2675 with a 175grn bullet. You will be looking at 2700-2750 with a 168. That would be sufficient to do what you want. Tank
