I was also thinking of mentioning the 30x284 if you are into wildcats, it has been used on occasion for 1000 yard br, dies are available from redding, the best way to go about it is to get 6.5x284norma brass, either the norma or lapua brand run them through a 284win fl die, then through the 30x284 fl die. It fills the middle ground between 30-06 and 300win mag, just shy of the 300wsm, but has longer barrel life than the win mag or wsm and is slightly more accurate than the tried and true 06, in a 26" 11 twist barrel with the proper throat it will break the 3000fps mark with 185grn berger vlds and H4350 and is easy on cases. A cheaper way is to get winchester brand 284 cases and do a single pass in the 30x284 fl die but the cases do not last as long. It is a very accurate, easy to load, fun to shoot caliber with moderate recoil or virtually none with a muzzle brake. The regular 284win with a long throat shooting 168 vlds is also a very efficient round. The 284 is simply an awesome case for all non magnum wildcats.
