I've struggled with the 700 CDL SF in 7mm mag. Crappy grouping between 4-6" out of factory loads. After reading millions of posts, I went with Retumbo and some Speer 175 game kings having heard heavier bullets may do better with the 1 in 9 twist rate. Bracketing from 67-73 grains, I've settled at 72.5 grains and have gotten down to 1-1/4" groups. Still nowhere near where I would like to be but good enough to give me a modicum of confidence in using this to hunt muleys. I've also had success at 70.2 grains with the above powder and projectile. Oh yeah, using CCI LRM primer- that's all I could get at the time I started working this up. I'd like to try some 162s, 168's but have limited time to test. Maybe next year. Btw, most of the factory rounds I tried(4-6" @100) were 140-150 gr. tried rem core loc, fed, and winny's. I couldn't get much better of the shelf locally at that time. I got tired of sending my money for the crappy factory rounds and that is the story of how I began reloading for long rifle...
