Back in the day when i started my shop, i used the Savage M111 receiver often to rebuild into affordable, precision long range hunting rifles. Learned a few things over the years to get them to shoot extremely well, one of the main things, get rid of that barrel lock nut system and use a larger diameter shanked barrel which are much stronger, much stiffer and rigid and just look so much better in the finished product.

have not done many of these in the past 10 years but had a friend call me up saying he had an old savage 300 rum that was all but worthless. Told him we could rebuild it. So he sent it to me, full receiver blueprint, new match barrel, new stock, few other upgrades and chambered back to the original 300 rum. Shooting the 212 gr eldx at 3140 fps. Last test i ran with this rifle i took one shot each at 380, 585, 788 and 1007 yards, cold bore shots at each and at every range, first shot impact was within 1/4 moa of my point of aim. These rifles do shoot when out together properly.

this customer has recently gone through some very serious, very hard family issues, hope this rifle will bring him and his family some joy in the future……🙏
