7mm STW Brotherhood - For those who shoot the 7mm Shooting Times Westerner

Well I settled on a load and after doing some adjustments I think I got a good load with 140 gr Sierra Pro hunters Seated at 3.690 with 75 gr of IMR 7828 Heres 5 off the sand bags and 3 off hand 100
that's a good, mild mid range load that'll kill deer a long ways out. I shot that load ( a couple of grains more powder) for years until I went to rl25.

Heres the final result I got with load developement 10530794_672377776149760_4155637208546176425_n.jpg

Good to see another 7828 user for the STW getting good results.

I use 7828 SSC and 180 Hyrbids in mine, and it shoots 5 of them inside of a dime @ 100. Alot of people overlook 7828, but it's a **** good powder for the STW.

7828 is a good powder for the 7stw, but there are newer, better powders out there. Back when I had the pressure trace on my sendero, I was getting 6,000 psi+ less pressure at the same bullet speed with sierra 140's and rl25 vs. what my 7828 load was developing. I'm not saying 7828 is a bad choice and I do use 7828, but it's usually in a 270win or 300win where you aren't quite as overbore and the powder is actually rather slow for the cartridge.

I will second that

I like the 180g Berger VLD for long range work, but it comes at a price for my rifle. It's a single shot proposition as I have to seat them way out to have the accuracy required at extreme range. The best bullet for me that fits in the magazine and makes it so I can carry more than 1 round is the 175g Sierra Gameking, it has a good BC for a Spritzer Boat tail and is great for when Elk and Deer seasons overlap.
