will the 140 grain 7mm rem mag have good knock down power at 500 yrds?

thinking of switching to them to get flatter shots.

gonna kill ibex and thay dont fall easy.

You would be beter served IMO with 160gn bullets. Ibex are tough animals to put down, I used 180gn ballistic tips in my 300WM with good results on Krgystan ibex last year. If they are out there you normally have time to range them and dial the dope required. the extra bullet weight and and higher BC will be in your favour if your presented with a longer shot.

yeah l know had shockin resolts with 150 grains. lot of woonded ones. so swiched to the 175s. great knock down power but hell of a lot of drop. it feels like lm shootn a silly round like the 150 grain 308 not a 7 mag.

Are you handloading or using factory ammo?

If you're stuck with factory ammo, then what choices are available to you?

The amount of drop is completely irrelevant.

What matters is the amount of damage you are able to do to vital organs which is the result of the impact velocity, energy, bullet design, and placement.

You need to be very specific.

Are you referring to Federal Premium Ammunition?

They make a bunch of different loads. Are these the 3 loads that you are comparing? The Load Number shown in the first column below should be on each box of ammo.

7RA
7mm Rem. Magnum
150 / 9.72
Soft Point
Power-Shok®

7RB
7mm Rem. Magnum
175 / 11.34
Soft Point
Power-Shok®

P7RTT2
7mm Rem. Magnum
140 / 9.07
Trophy Bonded® Tip
Vital-Shok®

If not, then what manufacturer make/model/load number are you referring to?
