I'm thinking 70-71 with RL26 and 71.5-72.5 of H1000. Load 5 each and see what they do at 300 yards next trip out.
It's a 28" barrel...how much slower does a guy have to go before hes at 7 RM/26" velocity levels? I feel I'm right in there for velocity/accuracy with a 180g at 3000fps+ from a 28" 7-300 Win Mag. My goal was 3000fps and 1/2 MOA or better, I think both powders will do it fairly easy. I have 12# of H1000 and only 1# of RL26. So I'll be going with the H1000 either way. Just wanted to try this new RL26 magical powder that adds 100fps while keeping all the accuracy...I had room to go up with H1000, didn't have ejector marks at 74.5g @ 3086fps. I'm betting H1000 would keep up with RL26 velocity wise, just takes a few more grains to do it. 72.5 and 73g at 3122/3137 of RL26 both left heavy ejector marks and bolt lift was stiff. I'm thinking 70-71 with RL26 and 71.5-72.5 of H1000. Load 5 each and see what they do at 300 yards next trip out.
