Looking with interest at the baby 270...anyone have any luck?
Any love or hate for the round

I love my 6.8 for many reasons and the fact that It works well in a AR 15 makes it an ideal hog rifle. The 6.8 rounds can be loaded in the 223 Mags in a pinch and the 20 round will hold 10.

It was made to meet or beat the 7.62 x 39 with the correct loading it can produce 2002 ft/lbs of energy compared to 1500 to 1600 ft/lbs of the 7.62 x 39 and 1300+ for the 5.56 x 45 (223 rem).

It is very accurate and for a small round very powerful. Many test were made trying the 6.5, .277, .284 and .308 bullets and The .277 (270) bullet won out with the best energy and trajectory for it's case size.

It also works well in a 16" barrel but gives up some velocity and energy. I recommend a 22" to 24" barrel for best overall performance.

I just built an AR-15 in 6.8. I love it on hogs. Haven't shot a 'yote with it yet. No recoil at all and it'll drop a 300 pound boar DRT at 100 yards.

I love my 6.8 ar I built, i have an 18inch barrel on mine. Shoots under 1/4 moa with factory ssa 110 accubonds. Killed my deer this year with it. Pictures of entry and exit wounds. Couldn't find a piece of lunch big enough to pick up.

I had a 6.8 for a while. It worked great with the right bullet selection out to 300 yards. Used it on deer, antelope, and even a cow elk.

I have been using the 6.8 for about 8 years now, both ar -15 and bolt rifle. It has accounted for many hogs and deer with out issue, I have used on coyotes some too. I like the 90 gr sierra bullet and used it on the majority of animals killed with great success. I did try the federal fusion 115 gr in case I would ever need to pick up factory ammo, it was decently accurate. So one evening I was setting in the stand and a coyote presented himself 70 yrds out ,had my 20" bolt rifle loaded up with the federal fusion ammo. I shot the coyote and down it went leg sticking up and shaking and all. Then it got back on its feet ,shot again, down it goes, then again back up and moving. Makes it to the brush and I don't see him again, thinking he is dead behind the brush I go on about my hunt. After a short time I see the coyote moving in the brush, I ready myself for a head shot as he presents himself, take the shot that did the trick. Seemed that that bullet wasn't expanding as the entrance and exit wound were not visible until I skinned the coyote.

6.8 SPC is just about like any other for Yotes. Personal, and just my opinion, I pick up a .22 Valkyrie and never look back, unless of course you're planning to use it for something other than Yotes and the caliber restriction would be a problem on the .22 caliber side.
