6.5 Sherman

H1000 goes 3100fps
Hi Laker, I built a 6.5 Sherman using a 700 action, CF Proof Sendero Light, AG CF stock and Timney HIT trigger. I have 50 cases fire formed of Winchester brass and ready to start load development with the 156 which is what I built it to shoot. I have H1000 and multiple flavors of primers both LR anf LR mag. Would you mind sharing what you saw when you worked with H1000 ?

It's been so long ago and no longer have the rifle so I won't be much help to you

You could also try N570. It gave me great accuracy and top velocity with the 140 Berger. Also shot the 160 matrix, but it only shot just ok.

FWIW, I've been using RL-26 with the 156 Berger in my 6.5 Sherman. Peterson 270 Win brass and Fed 210 primers. I worked up to 60.5 gr yielding and avg of 3150 out of my 26" barrel.

I've yet to try H-1000 in my 6.5 Sherman.

Thanks, N570 and RL26 may as well be Sasquatch around here, they are just as unavailable as H1000. Fortunately I have plenty of H1000 and it's what I load 3 different 300WMs with as well so I would really like to find a load that will work with it.

Rich (@elkaholic) could probably chime in with a good place to start with H-1000.

Built the gun heavier than I prefer
Mine weighs just under 9 lbs scoped with a 2.5 - 20 x50 NX8. Pretty happy with that. Feels like a huge difference between that and my R-Bros 300 Wm which is right at 12 lbs scoped with a 2.5 - 22 x50 NXS. That rifle is heavy but I love it. Has never let me down and I've made all my long range kills with it out to 859 yards. Hoping this 6.5 Sherman turns out to be something my daughter will have as much confidence in.

N170 works great with 140gr you will run out of case room before you find pressure mine are running 140gr eldm at 3122

Thanks, I'm getting well over 3000 in the 60 - 61 grains range with H100 out of my 24" Proof so far. Just hunting for an accuracy node.
