Cant never leave nothing alone as usual and always chasing that next best load. Been shooting 140s in my creed for some time and wanted to give the 147s a test drive. Just wondering if any of u are shooting them and what velocities u are getting with them. Here is what I got so far, tested 5 loads today and plan to try more this weekend. Powder is H4350, lapua brass, CCI 450. Wind was terrible today and target was bouncing all over but that load shot pretty good, just would like some more velocity. Went from 41.2 to 42 gr in .2 gr increments. All loads were below .5 except at 42 really don't think I am going to be able to go much higher before pressure in that lapua brass. Any help would be appreciated.
I run 140s at that velocity with 4451. Some guys on here are running some different powders and getting impressive velocity. I have 16# of IMR 4451, so I'm not switching anytime soon.
You may get to 2800, but I personally don't see any benefits of doing so, that 50 fps gain could shorten your brass life by a couple firings. Not sure if that matters or not.
Shot these Monday. 300yds the 9 shot group was while getting a feel for a hot barrel with rl26. The 5 shot group was last 5 after 110rds for the day.
Es for the day was 54fps. Even with rounds left in the hot chamber for 2 minutes. My muzzle was badly caked with carbon. I had 284 rounds since the brake was last off. It shots far better than these when clean.
Conditions were 11to18mph 7to11 o'clock. 28degrees bright sun 245 to 525pm shooting 25 degrees magnetic.
The holes above the 9 shot group (all my 10rd mag will hold n feed well) were on the board. I shot @5 of those shoot n c 4" circles 2 at 100 mostly with a 22 and the 200 was with the 142s using 4955. I played with the steel for most of the session. Mostly shooting 5 and changing the mag for another 5 in 30 then 20 seconds.
My first try at prs is the 31st and I hope to not embarrass myself and have some
I would be happy with that load, great accuracy, ES, and the velocity is good. With some powders you can really drive the 147s to 2800-2900, but H4350 is a proven stable powder and you have a lot going for you with this load. I would stop load development here and run it.
Thanks brother. Did a little more climbing and ended up getting 42.6 gr which had SD or 2 and printed a 1/4 moa group and I broke 2800. So going to play with it a little more. Thanks for all the help fellows.
