Would like to spend around $250 -$300 or less but if the extra $100 warrants it. Also, would consider a 4x16 with ao if the glass and price was a better value than the 6-24x. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Hard to narrow it down without know what features you want but . . .

Weaver Grand slam or classic series- very good scopes and in your price range.

Hawke sidewinder tactical- has gotten some very good reports and is very popular in the airgun world which means they are tough as nails!

Vortex Viper line but they may be a little expensive and low on the top end.

Bushnell elites- a bit more money though.

    HTH,

i have a 6 x 20 Vortex Viper i could probably be talked into letting go. i got it as a back-up and all it's done is back up in the corner. has a dot reticle. put it on a gun and took a few shoys with it, never used the gun and took the scope off and it's been sitting there. all in all a nice scope. shoot me a PM if you're interested.

Read the reviews at Midway site about the millet trs1 4x16 ($300) or optics planet. I purchased one for my 338 win with intension of using for awhile on it then upgrading to vortex pst. Now i'm saving to buying two more to other rilfes. I think its very nice scope for the money wth loads of features. So far holding up great to recoil and turrets return to zero

You may want to consider a Weaver Super Slam...4-20x50 dual X....after $50 rebate, price is $340 plus about $14 shipping from Natchez. Optics are top notch for brightness/clarity and you'll like the adjustments for windage and etc.

those have Click Value: 1/8" at 100 yds,,, that generally blows for long range work and it looks like a 1" tube... that makes for a high lack of usable clicks..

Well, this scope had enough clicks for 600 yard target shooting with a 7x57 Ruger 77. Have not tried it beyond that distance.

look up your load data, and see what you need to get to 1k, see if the scope can do it.. most 1" only have 30 to 50 moa total, minus what you need to sight it, that might only leave you with 15 to 30 usable "maybe"...

not to mention most 1/8th scopes ive seen dont have a even click count per rev. it will be like 7.5 moa per turn... this makes turrets useless.

but if you never shoot past 5/600 it might not matter

personally, i only use 30mm tubes with 60moa min. + a 20moa base this gets me 50+ usable MOA that will get me 1k+

millett lrs-1 6x25x56 side focus, great glass, milldot, 35mm main tube, 140 moa elevation (i've got 119 3/4 with 20 moa rail) usable elevation from a 270 yrd 0. on my 300 wm thats more elevation than it needs for 2000 yrds! 2350 is dialable with my loads (albeit load goes sub at about 2000)gun)

I don't have the one I listed but do have an Apex model 4044. It's a 4-16x44. Have it mounted in my .221 FB. I called Alpen before I bought it and they said they're made in China to their specifications and if I had any problems with it to send it back no questions asked. I was kind of leery but thought I would give it a try. So far I'm very happy with it; no issues. I can't get over how clear and bright it is.

Here's what they say about their warranty:

"Our No-Blame, No-Fault, No Problem Warranty: If you have any problem with your Alpen product for any reason, send it back and we’ll repair or replace it FREE … period."

I'm going to try the one I mentioned in the near future.
