338WM/250 SMK's

helping a buddy get set up for LR, from my research IMR4350 and RE19 seems to offer the best velocities, anyone with experience with these powders in the 338WM got any input before I start load developement? thanks in advance!!

IMR 4350 would probably be a very compressed load unless you have the room to seat the bullet long. Sorry cant help more.

Sierra's 3 rd edition reloading manual lists their 250 gr Game King with 70.2 gr of IMR 4350 as max, and as the preferred hunting load. They also list 67.4 gr of IMR 4350 as the accuracy load. I reload 70.0 gr with the 250 gr GK. Don't know anything about the Bergers.

I use IMR 4350 for my 338 wm I load the 225, 250, and 300. All with good results. For the Hornady 225 SXT bullets I use 67gr. with an AOL of 3.337 and have 3 shoot groups at 100 all touching. The 250 are also Hornady SXT bullets which get 67.5 grs. of 4350 with an AOL of 3.363. For my 300 I use Lapuas over 58 grs. with an AOL of 3.363. My next loads of 300 will be the Berger Hybrids I have always had excellent results with Berger bullets I haven't worked up a load yet but hope to in the near future. Hope this helps you out sum but I won't promise you the same results.

I use the 250 gameking in my 338 win with rl19, and I'm shooting 70 grains of it with a 210 in win brass. I usually use either a 225 hornady or 225 nos ab for serious work though. You can't get over 2700 fps with the 250 and you can get to 2900 fps with the 225's.
