338 wsm

Has anyone played with or had any experience with 338 WSM? What kind of velocities can be reached with 225 gr bullet? Can they reach 338 WM ballistics?

I looked at building a 338 wsm and after doing a lot of research
it looks like there is no advantage over the 325 WSM (an 8mm/
.323 dia round) except bullet choices.

With lighter bullets the 325 will stay with the 338 win mag but not
with heavy bullets.so a cartrige based on this case wouldn't compete
with a 338 win mag.

It would be a nice round but with the cost of a custom reamer and
a set of custom dies (About $250.oo)there are better choices unless
you just wanted something different.

How would an "improved" 338/06 compare? Sure you can't drive the heavy bullets as hard but, for a lot of hunting at intermediate ranges you will have a solid choice.
