My New rifle is supposed to be coming in this week (Sako TRG 42) and I'm searching for a real accurate hunting load. I know a lot of people are using 300 SMK's even though they aren't a hunting bullet but what the hell if it drops an elk at 600yds its good enough for me.
Does anyone have any experience with either of the following:
225gr Nosler Accubond
250gr Sierra Gameking
From what I understand the these rifles generally seem to like boattails.
Does anyone else shoot a 1 in 12" twist barrel, if so what seems to work?
Thanks for the help.

Afraid I am one of the MK fans for my Lapua. But if I had to choose another bullet, especially for a 12 twist (mine are 10)then I would use the Accubond.

In my first 338 Lapua I used the 250 Gameking (~3200fps). Very accurate and I killed a few critters with it. Another bullet that I used than, and a buddy still uses, is the 200 Ballistic Tip (~3400 fps).

The Gamekings I recovered had shed the jacket as is typical on a lead core bullet (non-bonded I guess) but the dead critters didn't seem to care.
