300 WSM Honey Loads

hey guys great posts , I have a 300 wsm in an eclipse shoots great to 1000 yds with 180 noslers ballistic tips 69 gr. rl-22 in a win case with win mag primers . O A L is at max that will fit in the magazine . how do you guys do it with the 200 plus grain bullets , do you just shove them back in the case or do you makem longer an single feed them? My load works out that its a compressed a little to get 3000 mv.....:D

Another new guy here. I shoot a factory A-bolt SS in 300 WSM with the standard 23" barrel. My best load for the rifle is with 65.5 grains of H4350 in a Federal case using a CCI 250 primer and a 180 gr Hornady SST seated to the max magazine length. Average velocity is 2960 and the best group is 4 shots touching that measure .37

I have tried many other bullets but couldn't get them to group the way the Hornady's do.

I,ve been trying lots of different loads for my savage 12 so far the best is 66gr IMR 4350 with 155 a-max. 65.5 H4350 interchanges exactly with the IMR load in fact I have shot .5" groups with them mixed up. Velocity is lower at 3166 however I did reach 3420 with IMR before I found max, accuracy opened to .75" so I went back. Win 760 was almost as good. 168 berger vld with 66gr H 4350 gives me .4" groups. these were all with Win brass and Fed 215 primers. I should mention all good groups no matter what the bullet is set .020 off the lands so I have been single feeding. I'm trying the 208 a-max now with IMR 4350 H4350 WIN 760 and rl 22. I'll post when I have some results

Well I 've tested the 208 a-max a bit now the best powder seemed to be rl-22 at 63gr. This combo gave .5"accuracy, velocity is sluggish at 2650. It went to 2850 but shot really bad at high pressure. I think I'm done with the heavy bullets. The 168 gives the best balance between ballistics and long range energy. Just my opinion.

I agree with using the 168's. With the Browning my COL is limited by magazine length, but it works fine for 165's and 180's. The 180's shoot great in my rifle, but my limited seating depth keeps me from going to the 200 grainers.
