My name is Tom Putman. I'm shooting the 300 weatherby matched with a mark 4 leopold for my long range hunting. I'm going to be using the new Hornady EDL-X 200 GR. bullets, If any one has expierience using the EDL'S an the 300 weatherby any help would be appreciated.. If not then I guess i'll be willing to share my future experience with others. Also any powder that would be effective with my caliber bullet combination would be appreciated,

T, welcome to LRH. Hornady only lists 2 powders for 300 Wby and the 200gr ELD-X, IMR 7828 and RL25. My son's 300 Wby showed great improvement with H1000 and Retumbo. He tested 7828SSC but the H1000 proved most accurate. Hodgdon lists starting at 77gr of H1000 and 79gr of Retumbo, 215M primers, Wby brass. H1000 can be difficult to find locally, but Retumbo is fairly easy. He had 6 lbs of H1000 and some 7828SSC to try along with my Retumbo. Good luck

Thanks . h1000 was the most accurate load that I was using shooting the berger vdl 210 gr in my 300 weatherby . I have h1000 what of the other powders would you try of the powders you mentioned

I was shooting the Bergers 230 at 2900 fps with H1000 and then I switched to N570 and now at 3050 fps. This was from a 30" tube from my weatherby. I have tried RL33 but I could not get the ES down. I really like the N570 from what I read it is real temp stable. They have it in stock at powder valley
