I need a great load for the 300 RUM cartridge using a 200 gr. AB and H1000 powder. Anybody got some data they want to share? The rifle is a custom tuned Rem 700 with a Lilja 27" barrel (1 in 12 twist). Thanks.
Glad you asked. I have a 300 RUM as well and my powder of choice for it is H-1000. It was the first powder I tried, and I never have had to look back as far as accuracy or velocity. My rifle gave great groups at 92g for a high node of 3150fps, and also shot great at 88g which is good for 3000fps. They were in Rem brass, Fed 215 primer, OAL was 3.660". It is a .5 moa load out to 800 yards. Hope it works out for you.
I've been loading at 92gr of H1000 behind a 180gr SST just for paper punching. It shoots pretty darn well out of my Sendero. The chrony said it was moving at 3340. I have moved from Federal 215M primers to Winchester WLRM primers. I have seen a bigger difference in accuracy just by that change than anything else in my 300 RUM. Not sure what to attribute this to, but they seem to work better with all powders/loads in MY gun.
H1000 has been the best poweder so far, followed closely by Retumbo, and RL-25.
