Dependence, uniformity of thought, and fear. As I see it that’s the trifecta to subjugating a people (disarming them doesn’t hurt either…feeling this now more than ever in Canada) You need them to depend on YOU and not each other. You need them to share the same convictions and repeat the same “truths” and narratives. Demonize anyone that says otherwise. Feeling this in Canada too. If you’re not a liberal you’re a racist (or something like that) And you divide and conquer by convincing the population there’s thsi great imminent catastrophe BUT YOU CAN SAVE THEM. It’s one thing that the politicians do this. I don’t expect better. What makes me just about cry (really) is that I had expected better of my fellow citizens to be able to see what’s happening. I live in about the most rural and conservative province in Canada (probably) and the number of people even here that think this is all fine is just…disorienting almost. And if anyone’s struck by tragedy or having a hard time so many people don’t care or feel any personal responsibility or conviction to look out of their fellow man. “Let the government take care of them…”. This is our fault at least as much as the politicians.
