280AI 22” BBL, RL23 or H4831SC?

From what I remember, I shot 4831 exclusively in my 26" and it was great. When I rebarreled to 22" I tried hard to get it to shoot because I have a jug of it. I was not getting it all to come together and I attributed it to incomplete powder burn because my es was bad and so were my groups, and my velocity was lower than I hoped for. RL26 gets repeatable 1/3 moa for me and I see no reason to look elsewhere. I'm not driving it as hard as some. 2900 FPS with 168 grain bullet.

I have a notebook filled with notes on these combos as well as some 155 grain HH data with multiple powders, if anyone is interested I can dig it out. It will be worth exactly what you pay for it.
What were some of your best loads for the 155's? I might try 155's in my 280AI.

this data for 22" barrel 280 AI and HH 155. Notes indicate that 4831 shot around 1 moa across all charges.

Not sure if relevant in 22" barrel, but my 26" likes H4350 best. I did load development with 143HH, 152 Cutting edge and 145 Barnes LRX and all performed better with h4350 than rl23 and h4831sc. RL 23 was a close second, but just not as good. I really wanted to go with the rl23 because I had more of it and that is what I use in my 300wm. Rl23 did produce a little more velocity (30-40fps), but groups, ES and SD were better with h4350. My velocity with h4350 is 3025 with constant groups at 3/8-1/2". Rl23 was at 1/2-3/4" but not as consistent. Hope it helps, good luck.

I'd consider the 143 over the 155 in SAUM/280AI. The 143 should have less drift/drop. That's said, I shot a bull at 500+ with the 155 and he didn't like it.

For me, H-4350 was best with 143 and RL-23 for the 155

The 143 HH in the .280AI is a great match. There are a few powders that fit the "pixie dust" title and are mentioned in this thread. My 26" tube loves RL26. My back up combo is Barnes 150gr TTSX pushed by H4831sc. Being in the .280AI cult for the last 5 years, I'm all ears for new loads!

h-1000 best with 160 Accubonds until i could not get it. H-4831sc works too for me. Never tried the Allianz so have no comment on them.
