280 AI nosler brass necked to 6.5 AI

Would this be possible ?

Could the nosler 280 AI brass simply be necked down to 6.5 AI ?

If so basically there wouldn't be any fireforming or the eqivalent of firing a new piece of brass to your chamber.

If your chamber is cut for the 6.5-280 Ackley it will work but if its the standard 6.5-06 Ackley it will not work , the shoulder is further forward on the 280 than the 06 family cases.

I would reccommed getting a couple hundred Lapua 30-06 cases and necking thos down and fireforming , 200 cases will last the life of the barrel and no other case prep will be needed to have match quality brass.
