would it have to be machined out or get a whole other bolt?It will be long enough however the biggest issue is the bolt face being .473 vs the .532 required for the .264 WM
And if it's CRF the extractor will need work, too. I don't know if the Ruger uses a dedicated magnum follower for it magnum chambered rifles, or not.It's a CRF bolt face if I recall correctly which means it should be able to have the face opened up pretty easily.
Your bolt can easily be opened up to a magnum. Follower works. Easy conversion. If you handload I would consider the 6.5x280 ackley improved if you want a 6.5. Right on the heels of the 264.If I found a left handed-magnum bolt could it be taken apart to build a correct bolt for my possible bui9ld?
