I'm in the market for another .25-06 - I've owned a Weatherby Vanguard which I could not get to shoot; a Remington 700 BDL which shot great - unfortunately a good friend wanted it and I let it go - regretted that ever since; and currently own a Kimber Montana from which I can't seem to squeeze out acceptable accuracy and will soon be trading fodder.
I'm looking at a Remington 700 CDL or possibly a Cooper. I'd also consider a Win Model 70, however, I just purchased a Model 70 Fetherweight in .243 and can't get the bullet to engage the lands on my reloads - even using 100 and 105 grain bullets. Did Winchester start free-boring their chambers/throats? Does Remington do the same? Not conducive to good accuracy. Accuracy is acceptable on the .243 - but not great.
Every Remington I've ever owned - .223 to .338 mag has shot great - but haven't picked one up in 15 years or so. I don't mind glass bedding a CDL or dropping it in a McMillan stock and will likely replace the trigger.
I'm in a quandry. Your thoughts?
Thanks!
