.223 Remington semiauto rifles that don't look like ARs

If you want to shoot out to 600 yards, I assume your going to want some sort of decent accuracy out of your semi auto. That is somewhat challenging with a lot of the ones listed. The Mini 14 "can" shoot accurately, but often times takes a good but of work and modifying to do so. The Remingtons, Kel-tec's, and BAR's are in the same boat, they may, or may not shoot MOA consistently. Just depends on the accuracy your looking for. If your wanting MOA or sub MOA accuracy, your best bet is gonna be one of the "sporterized" or wood stocked California type AR-15.

Living here in the People's Republic of Kali, I too was looking for a "non-scary" semi carbine...

I wanted the FightLight Sport Configurable Rifle (SCR). I wasn't able to find one in stock anywhere, so I ended up getting a little Mossberg MVP patrol bolt-action in 5.56. It's mostly "non-scary", but it is black. And, it feeds from AR mags. So, if you don't see the bolt, it looks a little frightening to the uninitiated...

I liked the SCR because the wood stock looks like the laminated stock on one of my 870s. They would have made a nice pair.

Oh, well...

Looking to leave the PRK before long. Trying to locate the right location to go. Anywhere anyone wants to go, is getting inundated. Trying to avoid the crowds...

Me and a friend want to buy .223 Remington semiauto rifles that don't look like ARs or military guns. Anyone know of one? I know the bolt rifle I would get as an alternative but we want semiautos.
I got an KELTEC RDB SURVIVAL IN 223/ 5.56 NON RESTRICTED IN CANADA NEITHER. 20 INCH BARREL. SHORTER THAN AR15 IN OVERALL LENGTH BUT BECAUSE OF LONGER BARREL SHOOTS A BIT BETTER THAN AR. AMD IS A BULLPUP..
GAS CHAMBER IS AFJUSTAE . TO SUIT THE AMMUNITION U SHOOT..

not a .556, but you could get a Saiga 5.45x39 hunting rifle. Based on an AK74, but in a hunting rifle look. Kinda hard to find, but ballistically very similar to .556. Hornady makes reloadable ammo w brass cases.

Not sure the Ruger ranch rifle is "legal" in California right now or not--- it has gone on/off the "assault rifle list" several times over the years.
Last I knew, ruger did offer a "ca compliant" - featureless "ranch" rifle --- but calis rules change quickly.
You should read up on cali laws and do some research before choosing. Ruger does make 10 round mags for it but no "clips"
I lived in SoCal in late 90's and I was informed I wasn't allowed to have my Ruger mini 14 in Cali.

I think this is legal in Californexico.

Nope. Holds to many rounds!

Just on the off-chance that the OP isn't a troll, what is the reason for a .223? Might be happier with a semi-auto .22 Magnum. Lot cheaper and probably a lot more Kali compliant. OTOH, if a troll from Frisco, maybe a Nerf pistol is the best bet.

The Springfield Armory Saint Edge ATC still has a military type look to it but with a 5 round magazine it looks pretty tame. Especially if you take off the adjustable stock and just put a standard one on it. That is what I would get if I didn't want the typical semi auto 223 AR look

We've been plinking with PC carbine 9mm's with red dots and want to expand the range from 200 yards to 600 yards while using red dots or holosights with multidot reticles. .223 seems like a good round for that.
