22-250ai and 250ai HS gauge interchangeable

I like 22/250 minus .004 as a maximum length headspace, and this is typically normal. Minus .06-.008 is better where you bump the shoulder slightly on non-fire-formed brass to make a "custom" fit with the brand of brass that you are using. Headspace on new non fire formed brass will vary, great shock to some. My first 22/250 AI I had headspaced .025 short, which made for a longer neck to make up for the neck length shrinkage when the 22/250 AI is fire formed.

So, if you have a std 22/250 headspace gauge, the gunsmith can cut off whatever amount you want off the back so you will have your own custom headspace gauge, works great for help setting up dies and also in the reloading press.
