FWIW, IMHO, I believe that the only bullet of choice for taking hogs with small calibers is a Barnes TSX. It is one tough bullet and you'll get a devastating wound channel and maximum penetration. As long as you aim at a somewhat vital area the bullet should reach it and the hog will die. He might run for a while, but it will kill him. I grew up north of Larado, TX in peanut country and hunted hogs 3 nights a week for years, had keys to all the gates to all the farms. Farmers told me to keep the hogs out. I've taken hogs with .357 (rifle) .44 mag (rifle), 45-70 (good hog gun), and most with a 30-30. The farthest shot was about 7-8 yards (we hunted with dogs). I had many seasoned friends tell me that they've had .357's hit a charging hog in the head and deflect off its skull. If you're shooting out of a stand like the others mentioned, go ahead with your 22-250, but I warn you, if you're stalking these guys or chasing with dogs you're really gonna with you had something in your hands that will DRT. A 22-250 will kill a hog with the TSX, but it might plow through you and your buddies before it dies. Some hogs flee when shot... others just get ****ed. Good luck with your hunt if you're planning on eating it get a sow!
