20" 338winmag what powder?

To compensate a bit for the velocity loss of a short barrel, I've always read/heard and followed the rule of heavy bullets for caliber with slow powders. It seems just the opposite of what one should do, doesn't it? Stick with a temp stable powder if you possibly can Pard, but have a ball!

I am trying just that, I've got some 270eldX & 285eldM loaded for testing
