Guns for the 195 berger

Who has built a gun for this bullet what caliber?

The caliber is 7mm...I believe the question you meant to pose is "What cartridge?"

Anything 7mm RemMag and up will handle them.

Personally I would start around the .28 Nosler, 7mm STW, 7x300 WinMag, 7x300 Weatherby Mag, and top-out around the 7mm RUM. Anything bigger than the RUM capacities for a 7mm diameter bore offers too many diminishing returns for the slight-bit of performance increase, in my opinion. Personally, I'm a big fan of the .28 Nosler and 7mm STW sized cartridges. I feel they offer the best mix of performance and barrel life. I have also heard great things about the 7x300 WinMag and 7x300 Weatherby Mag being good ones.

For the 195's you will want a 1:8 twist barrel. I would start at 26" and go up from there. Personally I wouldn't go less than 28"-30" for a cartridge of that capacity, if you are not planning on toting this rifle around the woods. If you are driving to a hill and then setting up shop waiting for game to walk by, or for target shooting, then I would go 30" barrel.

I've got a long range setup in 7mm Rem Mag with a 28" barrel for the 195s. I get 2850fps using a healthy dose of H1000. I've shot to 1809 with it, hitting a 1 MOA target.

I have a light weight 7mm Rem Mag coming in the next couple of weeks. The chamber is cut with a custom reamer to load the bullets to the limits of the Rem 700 BDL mag box. I'm intending to try H4831SC to get the best velocities in the 23" barrel.

I have a 7mm practical,or 7mm-300 and I have a Krieger 1-8 twist 28 inch heavy varmint contour on a old Remington action and I use 76 grains of R33 and the 195s,3.705 overall length and only pushing them right around the 3000 fps mark and I get itty bitty little groups at 100 and it will stack them in at 950 easily better than 1/2 moa usually around 3 1/2 inches if I am having a decent day. I love this bullet in my rifle it just seems to work.Rifle has approx. Later Jake

28 NOSLER, 7mm STW, 7mm Rem Ultra MAG, and 7mm Rem Mag are the most common requests for load data for in that order.

I just got mine back from the smith here last week. 7x300 WM it's built off of a tikka t3 action and used a 1/8 twist 3b contour barrel that's finished at 29" with a harrels precision brake. It's throated for the 195/180 bergers. He has built a bunch of them off that reamer design and is getting about 2950-3050 on the 195's with the reloader 33 and 3200ish with the 180's, but recently found reloader 26 to give another jump in muzzle velocity. Hoping to do some testing this weekend on mine. They're truly effective for what they especially if you have a bunch of 300wm brass laying around like me
