Looking for a gunsmith in S California

Duncan’s has done some very good work for my family over the years. We live 2 hours away, but make the trip down there when we need something done.

    Copper Bullets

I have loaded, hunted, and killed deer with the Hammer Hunters, Hornady GMX, and Nosler E Tips. Have played around with factory loaded Barnes, but wasn’t a fan. Hammer Hunters are by far my favorite. Easy to load, consistently small groups, and like to be pushed fast. The Hornady GMX was good...

    Favorite Hunting clothing brand advice!!!

As a few have mentioned, merino base layers are almost a must. As far as brand, I don’t think you can go wrong with any of them. I prefer and wear Firstlite, but it is very much just a personal preference.

    300 weatherby

I have a German made Mark V in 270wby and am a huge fan! The only thing about the W. Germany made 270s is they put too slow of a twist on it so I’m limited to shooting 130gr bullets. But 130gr at 3,375 out of a 24” barrel is pretty good medicine for deer. I’d say go to the 270wby and get a...

    AZ Commissioner Deer Tag

So I don’t usually do this kind of thing, but it’s for a chance to win an AZ Mule Deer Commissioner Tag and I just can’t pass that opportunity up. Would you guys be so kind to go on and send a few votes my way? They have both paid and free votes. Any paid votes are tax deductible and go to...

New Rifles: The Good, the bad, the ugly

I just finished setting up a 7mm Fierce Carbon Edge and getting it sighted in for this year. Very impressed with everything about it so far. Love the sako style action, great trigger, and the stock fits me perfectly. Just breaking in the barrel with corelokts and sighting in using factory nosler...

Dirtbags steal deer head in Wy.

Lowest of the low! I feel for the hunter. My Wyoming deer from 2020 (avatar photo) was stolen from the taxidermist shop when they were boiling the head outside. I’m still bitter and it was only a 160” buck. Even though I have shot larger deer, I love being able to look up at the wall and...

    Score this fella

I’m seeing maybe 330ish. I wouldn’t be surprised if it came in a little under 330”. Awesome G2 on the one side! Just a beautiful, clean looking bull.

    Ring and base advice

OP, I just went through this with a Fierce carbon edge and a Leupold VX 5 3-15x44. For what it’s worth, I ended up going with a Murphy Precision 0 moa steel rail and Leupold steel rings. I will say, I am biased and do not like aluminum mounts which is why I chose all steel. I know a lot of...

    Ring and base advice

Leupold doesn’t offer this setup or any other base option for a Fierce rifle. The OP is limited by base options because not many companies make a base option for a Fierce Fury/Edge action.

Picatinny Rail with or without built in moa?

Thank you all for helping me wrap my head around what would be best. Now I’m going back and forth between 0 or 10 moa. At 1000 yards, I will still have 6 moa left over on my scope. Considering most of my hunting shots are between 300 and 500 yards with the occasional need for further, and having...

Picatinny Rail with or without built in moa?

Ok guys, I need your help. Maybe I’m being thick headed, but I am having a hard time deciding if I’m gaining anything by going with a rail with built in moa. My rifle is a Fierce Carbon Edge 7mm rem mag with a 26” barrel. The scope I bought and am going to mount on this rifle is a Leupold VX-5...

    .270 WSM

For my wife’s elk hunt, I was able to find a good load with 140gr accubonds and Magpro. The 140ab worked great on her elk. I’ve since changed her over to 124gr hammer hunters with imr 4350. Found a great load with the hammers so she can use it here in CA for deer and out of state for elk (if or...

Loads for New 270 wsm 1 in 8 twist 26" Barrel

In my wife’s 270wsm, I’m running the 124HH at 3,390fps out of a 1:10, 23” barrel. This load shoots almost boringly consistent 1/2” groups. 124HH Winchester brass WLRM primers 63gr IMR 4350 COAL 2.700
