Heck of a year so far

Congrats elkstalker300, nice bull! That Glade country is some of my favorite turf too. Where are you mining?

    Colorado Success

Good job on a nice bull. I recognize the area, it's my back yard. Looks like you hunted with the Griffiths.

    7mm RUM or STW?

hyyw8t, yes I am a reloader and plan on shooting only my ammo. I am somewhat familiar with the STW but have no experience with or know anyone personally who owns a RUM. I was hoping that some members here would be able to point out some particulars between the two and maybe point out some...

    Last Day Buck

Elkstalker300, nice buck. Those last day bucks can be even more rewarding.

    Filled my shortrange tag, pics.

Spent all summer working on tightening my groups and preparing for longer shots. This guy stepped out at almost 40 yards! He was almost 80 yards when the 160 AB found his heart. Guess I won't be able to put my preparation to use until next year.

    7mm RUM or STW?

Which is better for me? I have been shooting a 7mm Rem mag for many years and want to reach out a little farther and have same or better accuarcy than the Rem mag. My hunting is in mostly open ground for Mulies and Elk here in Colorado. Opinions and info appreciated. Thanks.

    Gas marks on shoulder?

Thanks everyone for the input, I've gone back to Rem brass and haven't had any gas marks (black soot) on the shoulder. Also tried slightly hotter loads with the Win brass and accuracy fell off badly with the gas marks still showing up.

Back from my elk hunt, I'm just sick

Re: Back from my elk hunt, I\'m just sick Sorry about your luck sambo, I live here in beautiful Unit 61 and might be able to follow up and see if there is indeed a dead bull from your efforts if I had a little more info on the locale of your shot etc.

    Gas marks on shoulder?

This is my first lot of Win brass and it started showing up with the first firing. The brass was FL sized and fired, normally I fire at least twice before I get too serious. After two and three the gas marks are still randomly showing. I haven't tried necking only. I have tried RL-22 with...

    Gas marks on shoulder?

I've noticed this only recently. New brass that has been full lengthed, once, twice fired etc. All brass is being FL'd after firing and shows gas on shoulders part of the time, one's with no gas marks have different POI than one's showing gas on shoulder. I have backed my die off to keep from...
