VV Data, 30-06 with Berger Bullets

In short, it certainly can be. It never hurts to drop a couple of grains and shoot it through your chronograph to see how it compares to that published data. Of course you will need to correct your findings to take into account that they were shooting through a 24” barrel and you likely are not...

    264 WIN MAG

Been through several 264Win over the years. It’s my favorite hammer in the safe. It isn’t as difficult as some make it out to be. With your 9 twist barrel and with the listed choices of bullets I’d go straight to the 135 Berger and not waste anytime fiddling around with the others you’ve listed...

Berger Hybrid OTM vs Hybrid Target

In my experience with the 230 tactical it has proven to be an excellent choice. I use it exclusively in 30/06 and 30/338. I have had the opportunity to take several dozen critters with it from inside twenty yards to beyond seven hundred yards. Typical demonstrated performance is about two to...

    6.5x284 Loading for best accuracy?

Another excellent choice is the 130g Berger tactical AR hybrid. It is the easiest bullet I’ve ever worked with and has very well documented performance on game. I have personally used it to take whitetail and hogs in everything from 6.5 Grendel to 264 win mag at every range from inside forty...

    308 Norma mag Improved

No direct experience to share with you, but I like that idea. I have had a couple of 30/338 win over the years and currently enjoying an 24” 30/338 win. I expect that would be a relatively nominal change over the standard 308 Norma, maybe 100f/s? The biggest difference will be improved brass...

Any reason to thread a 6.5 PRC?

IMO, thread it. It gives you options down the road. I will not even consider buying or building a rig that isn’t threaded. If your thread protector wants to work loose a couple drops of vibratite takes care of that issue.

Does anyone see a difference using different primers?

Yes, there is a difference. This photo shows the effect of a swap between a Federal LRP and a CCI LRP and a Winchester LRP. Five ambient bore temperature shots each group. All other factors of the load and brass being identical as possible.

    6.5-06 H1000

I’ve been running Staball HD with the 130g Berger AR Hybrid in a A-Squared 6.5/06. I used it at 90• plus to take a couple of depredation does this summer and had no issues with temperature sensitivity. I haven’t had a chance to shoot it in cold weather yet, but I will make a point to test it as...

    New StaBALL

I just started using Staball match in 223 rem with Hornady 75g bthp. I think I’ve loaded and shot only about 300 rounds so far in testing. I have been impressed with its consistency of powder charges loading on a progressive press and it’s extremely low SD. Velocity is pretty much average...

    Match bullets vs. speed goats….

I’m still looking myself. Over the next couple of months of cull hunting I’ll be investigating a few things myself. I’m feeding a 7 twist 264 Win mag that has delivered a few hundred cull white tail with that 160

    Match bullets vs. speed goats….

That 160 Matrix VLD was a great bullet! I’m down to my last about 300. What are you planning to switch to when your supply dries up?

    Match bullets vs. speed goats….

130g Berger AR tactical has been my go to in 6.5 Grendel, 6.5/06 and 9 twist 264win mag. Easiest load development I’ve ever had. Basically just load a ladder test for safe velocity and go hunt.

    Fireforming help needed

Seat your bullets long enough so that when you close the bolt you are seating the bullet final few thousandths. That will ensure that the case head stays on bolt face. A little case lube inside the neck helps things move smoothly as well. Identify the CBTO length of your chamber with that bullet...

    Huskemaw scope

I have ran a 5-20 blue diamond on my favorite hunting rifle since 2014. I love that rig, the optic has proven to be exactly as advertised. Absolutely reliable, simple to use and accurate. I have had several of both the older single turret and the newer duplex turrets made for me over the years...
