You can't go wrong with those Speer 130s. They flat-out smack the crap out of deer! Just like a .30-30.

My go-to is CFE BLK, but I have also had success with Viht N120. Accuracy has never been an issue with my Wilson Combat 16.25" 15 twist barrel, regardless of powder, but the N120 shoots a teeny bit better groups than BLK. Velocity is 2440 with the BLK, 2420 with the N120. It's a 100 yard woods...

Will you be testing by chrono or by sound? You may run out of bullets if testing by sound. Pretty easy to get to that 1050 "sweet spot" with a chrono. Since 4227 is your slowest powder, I would start with it, around 9.0 grains, and see what it shoots.

You should get over 2600 fps with 110s.

I found that the Ham'r doesnt care about magnum primers if loaded properly. Definition of "properly": Pack that tiny case full! Never seen signs of overpressure with cases packed full of CFEBlk or N120. Did see overpressure with H110, and it was slower. Bill Wilson wasn't BSing when he said...

I decided to do a "one and done" purchase of once-fired military brass to last the rest of my shooting life. So now to the sorting... This stuff is all over the place in both weight and length, so my question is how tightly do I sort it for good results? The lengths vary from 1.983 to 2.032...

Bullet hits animal at 2600 fps, causing shock. Ok, how fast is the bullet after 2" penetration? At 6""? At pass-through? I've seen some really nasty exit wounds on deer, made by bullets going how fast? 600, 800, 1000fps? What's the explanation there?
