  • TJW,

Just in case this may be useful to you, I have been shooting the 230 gr bergers out of a 26" Bartleing 5r ss 1-10 twist barrel. I decided to try the 225 gr Hornady's because they cost half the price. The Bergers have a slightly better BC, but my load is basically the same.
76.6 grains of Retumbo in Winchester Brass with a 215 primer. I am getting outrageously fast numbers for a 26" 30 cal 300 win mag. I was anticipating 2775 or so. I actually chronoed it and got 2886. I thought it must be a fluke, but on the range the come ups were all within .2-.3 out to 800 yards.

That Retumbo seems to get it going pretty good! Best of luck to you.

ps. I initially shot those first test rounds in Kansas at about 2000 ft elevation. I live at near 5300 ft elevation. I hunt between 8500-10,400 ft. So those numbers could impact your ultimate results as well.
