New info on Chronic Wasting Disease

Here is an analysis that Dr. James Kroll (aka Dr. Deer) posted on his Facebook page regarding the article/study cited. "Here is what has to be one of the most unscientific papers we have ever read, and a group of the top wildlife and animal disease scientists agree with Doc! These folks take...

    Help score this whitetail 10pt?

As most have said, he's a beautiful animal and congratulations on the opportunity to harvest him. He has great length on both G3's, left G2, and both beams. I believe he will gross, non-typical between 145-155. That is a good number to represent how much antler he has grown. His gross...

    Gratuity/Tips for guided hunting

I've been blessed to own a small, family-run hunting operation for about 15 years. I try to charge "market rates" for our hunts, and tips are 100% discretionary. I do 50-70% of the guiding, my wife does 100% of the cooking and housekeeping. I bring in guides as necessary. I compensate them...

    Fill a gap

I'm a pretty big 6 CM fan, or a fast twist 243 win, or 6 mm Rem. It looks like your gap is between a 55-70 grain projectile in 22-250 and a 130 grain 270 Win. I like the 100-110 grain 6 mm projectiles to fill that. JMHO.

    Clip on thermals

One other quick note. I went with the Bering Optic Super Yoter R. I found an auxiliary battery to be mandatory for any reasonable timeframe. I love the Wi-Fi ability to connect to a phone or iPad and record pics/video or just as an alternative viewing source for companions and myself. I...

    Clip on thermals

I believe it really depends on your application, ie, the average (not max) range of your shot, and of course, your budget. I love the theory of a thermal clip on, but I believe it is a little better in theory than in practice. The clarity of the clip-on was not suitable to me. I went with a...

    Crimp-Velocity

I was skeptical about the value of crimping. I will say it has reduced my ES and SD, significantly with some cartridges and loads. Of course, the more consistent velocities has helped accuracy which is more noticeable at long range.

Which 6mm for coworker's new rifle

I really like the 6 CM. Even though he reloads, the factory ammo availability in the 6 CM (with the faster twist) will shoot the 100ish grain bullets very well out to 1000 yards. I think it just gives him more optionality in todays world. BTW, I love my 243 Win and it kind of hurts to post this.
