    Starting out in Arizona

Hello Well, I am restarting my life here in Phoenix, AZ. It has been very busy, there is still some to be done. Anyhoo, I was wondering, where might a fella go around here to shoot at some longer distances? Something from 300-500 yards would do for now. I have been to Ben Avery, but the...

First 2 groups with the 30/338 Lapua Imp

Actually, I like the looks of it. It kinda reminds me of a bolt-action front-loader I looked at not long ago. I am kinda amazed that nothing happened with only the screws as the bearing surface. But then again I am far from being any type of expert on thrust loads and whatnot. Good Job.

    Red dot 1gr. charges?

Hello Do any of you that shoot the big rifles still do the thing of putting in 1 gr. of Red Dot over the primer before you charge it with your normal powder? I have some data that show this, but that may be a holdover from the days when primers werent as good as they are now? As the newer books...

    Barrel Bedding block

Hello Ok, I am kind of a do-it-yourselfer. I have been looking at a bedding-block setup on my next rifle build. Is there anybody out there that can manufacture me a bedding block assuming that I give them the barrel's OD? Also, How is the bedding block held to the stock? What kind of and how...

    Savage Rifles.??

Jake The modular concept does work. They make a great experimenters rifle. I have a friend in Arizona that made a 300 Tomahawk on a the varmint version. You can switch the barrels, and the boltfaces, although some rounds are not real magazine freindly. I have a 20-223 AI tube for mine, and a...

Guns, parts, quality and relative price.

Hello I dont have a problem paying money for a good barrel, a good stock or what have you. But what KILLS me is what we shooters pay for little items. Every buy a simple funnel for 4.95? Sure you have, some of you payed more in some places. Was in the grocery store and saw 3 kitchen funnels...

    Gonna start to play!

Hello Well this all started many moons ago. My quest for a long range rifle. Its been on-again-off again, and is now on-again in a off again format. Totally lost? Many moons ago, my first CF rifle was a Browning Gold Medallion, in 30-06. I put a Redfield scope on top of it. The Ultimate...

    SAVAGE SWITCH BARREL QUESTION

I too am doing a Savage project One barrel is a 19-223 Calhoon Another barrel is a 20-223 AI. I really do like this rifle as there are some cartridges I like to play with, but for whatever reason it is not cost-effective to build up a rifle and scope combo for everything. Just waiting for the...

SOLD/EXPIRED Needed: Large Rim Weatherby case

Hello I need a Weatherby round of the "Large Rim" variety. It need not be otherwise useable, but the rim and belt area must be in good condition. These rounds have a rim diameter of .583", and I am told they are the 378, (and neckdown family), the 460, and I believe the 416. If you can spare...

    Weatherby boltface on Savage

Just called Fred over at SSS. He will open up a Savage boltface to accept a LARGE Weatherby case. He has also opened them up big enough to handle the Lapua case. And the Lazzeroni case. Which just opened up some possiblities.
