Hello
Well, I am restarting my life here in Phoenix, AZ. It has been very busy, there is still some to be done.

Anyhoo, I was wondering, where might a fella go around here to shoot at some longer distances? Something from 300-500 yards would do for now.

I have been to Ben Avery, but the longest public range they have is 200 yards.

Any ideas would be appreciated.

Tackdriver,

You can start with Rio Salado in Mesa. http://www.riosaladosportsmans.com/

Then do a search under Arizona High Power and there are some other places listed.

Your best bet is to invest in a canopy for shade and find a piece of desert out by Wickenburg and Congress. There are lots of "berms" out there and you can pretty much set your distance for practice.

Let me know if you want to chat about this.

Best.

If you get involved with some of the rifle clubs down there, they will let you use the 1000 yard range. Some rifle clubs names can be found on the Ben Avery wep page. Also some of the desert land north of the carefree highway around 7th street to 24th st. you can find places to shoot. Although I think around 24th st cave creek anexed a bunch of land, so watch the signs. You can not shoot in cave creek city limits. There is alot of buildings going up out there so you have to be choosy where you set up, but there are alot of desert hills out there you can use as a back stop. The only rule out there is you must be at least 1/4 mile away from any occupied building to shoot. And dont shoot twards any structures. Also talk to the guys at "The Outdoorsmans" on cave creek rd just north of dunlap (I think) They might be able to point you in a better direction.
