Putting together a 7mm STW build and figured I would try this before ordering. Anyone got one they want to part with? Still not even sure of contour, just seeing what's out there.

I shoot one shot and let it cool. It takes time, but I've found it gives me much better groups. If I'm working up a load I want accurate feedback.

I would try the simple answer first. Quit cleaning it. My 300 wsm will open up to 2" for about 15 shots after cleaning. Shoots .5" with a dirty barrel. It's strictly a hunting rig, so he don't get cleaned very often after that revelation. My buddy has 2 300 winnies that are the same way.

Fred, the game ear enhances hearing, but it also cuts out the muzzle blast. I have very significant hearing loss due to years of youthful stupidity and the game ear has been a god send. I can hear things I had forgotten made noise! I usually wear one game ear and an ear plug in the other ear...

Mine has a muzzle brake made by the PO. Recoil is less then my semi custom 270 win.

I have a suggestion for you Fred. Walkers Game Ear. I'm in Louisiana and know what you mean about quick shots. I started using game ears to save what little hearing I have left and I really like them.

Buddy had some BlackHills ammo that all the tips came off the accubonds. They weren't dropped either.

Well, quick trip to the range today. 76.5 gr of RL22 got the velocity I wanted. 3100fps out of a 25" barrel with 162 amax. Problem is that the bolt got sticky as well. Guess I'll just have to be happy with 3050.

There was one in 270 on the classifieds the other day. I wanted it bad bad, but my gun budget is BLOWN.
