A lotta work getting the next batch ready.

    More Uniform neck tension?

Felt resistance. Arbor presses are pretty sensitive with Wilson seater dies. Though they are not real powerful, so they don't seat highly compressed loads, except possibly the 21st Century linkage model which I have not tried. Dial Gauges are available for some arbor presses like the K&M, but...

.30-06 and IMR 4955 or Superformance

Looks like good 30-06 velocity potential, but with more compression than I care for, especially if using Wilson seater.

    More Uniform neck tension?

I bought the Anneal-Rite equipment some time ago but got cold feet and haven't used it. Anybody have experience using it? The mandrels I am familiar with are 0.001 over sized for neck turning. Use these anyway? Or where do I buy undersized mandrels?

    More Uniform neck tension?

Inconsistent force loading bullets with Wilson seater.

What's your rifle barrel length of choice?

I like 26 or 24 in that order. Extra maneuverability of barrels under 24" is way overrated IMO. Loss of velocity and muzzle report is underrated.

So, has anybody tried IMR 4955????

    More Uniform neck tension?

In an effort to get more uniform neck tension, I am considering putting fired brass thru an ultrasonic cleaner. Right now I run a brush thru a fired round, apply dry graphite to the neck, resize, then run a brush thru the neck again. Does it make any sense putting the brass in an ultrasonic...

    Question on short mag feeding

There is a good probability of feeding issues with any round with a shoulder greater than 30 degrees with a short case, and the smaller the caliber the worse it gets. Both of your rounds qualify. Its a simple geometry problem. You will need a good gunsmith; some won't even deal with it. Not...

    Bullets

But to literally answer your question of "same weight, hollow point, boat tail", it would be Barnes TSX.

    Bullets

Barnes in appropriate caliber for the game. I like the LRX's best. They have good BC, accurate, open quick, always hold together and have lowest expansion velocity of all the Barnes. But I am being picky; all Barnes styles have worked well for me. I also suggest one weight lower than you'd...

    Trying to decide on caliber

Of your choices 300WSM easily the best choice and very adequate. Get it with a Winchester M70 action that Winchester 300WSM's come with and you can seat bullets out as far as practical, well over 3 inches. It shoots 180 grain bullets just as fast as the 300WM, but looses 100fps with 200g...

    No Hydrodynamic Shock Below 2600FPS??

Didn't realize my post would cause such a firestorm. Sorry for late reply. Got busy at work, then had an accident and fractured a bone in my right hand. Didn't realize the name of the balistician was sooo important. I was really just asking for an opinion based on your experience. I am...

    No Hydrodynamic Shock Below 2600FPS??

A respected ballistics expert basically says that bullets .338 diameter and less loose their hydrodynamic shock value below 2600fps. This basically means a .308 Win shooting a 180g bullet and a .338 Win Mag both loose their shock value in less than 100 yards. I have harvested animals with...

    Best 270Win Load?

Half grain under Hodgdon max of IMR 4451 under 129g LRX cronos 3100fps in my 24" Geraci Accuracy 270 Win. 1.5" groups at 200yds. Devastating on deer. And red deer to 400 pounds. Hit on shoulder usually drops the animal. Always pass thru. I like copper eraser in 4451 but H4350 works the same.
