I've had good luck in Texas with Barnes 62gr TSX. I usually night hunt with a Larue OBR 5.56, PS22 clip on in front of day scope and Gemtech One suppressor.
I attached a pic of a 300+ lb hog a friend shot on my place near Columbus, TX using the Barnes TSX. It was DRT.

Funny you should mention a heated blind! Here's a pic of one of my sons hunting from a blind here in Texas. No silk robe or slippers, but he did take
a nice Aoudad at 325 yards with the Miller 300 Win Mag.
I agree with you about not using nice wood stocked rifles to hold down barbed...
I recently noticed that Dakota Arm's 2019 catalog no longer features the Dakota Miller single shot rifle built on the DeHaas Miller action.
I sent Dakota an email and they confirmed they have stopped making them. I own 2 Dakota Miller Classic rifles that not only exhibit beautiful workmanship...
I used a Les Baer Ultimate AR chambered in 223 with Hog Hammer Ammo (62 grain Barnes TSX bullet) and Gemtech ONE Suppressor for this hog.
I think Remington may not be making the Hog Hammer ammo any longer but I stocked up on some when they did.
If you need more hogs, I can send you some from Texas, we are overrun with them!
I seriously hunt them on my place near Columbus, TX and can’t seem to put a dent in the increasing numbers.
