6mm berger 95gr VLD twist rate

I had a Rem. VLS rifle that came with a 1/9.25" twist rate. I tried the Berger 95 Gr. VLD in it and couldn't get that bullet to shoot, which bummed me out because that bullet is an awesome bullet like all Berger VLD's. I managed to get the 105 Gr. A-Max to stabilize ok, so I stuck with that. At...

    .338 berger ? again

I've been wanting to build an Edge for a while now, and every time I hear about this new bullet design it makes me want one even more. It sounds like this new design could become the new standard in .338 cal LR loads. Does anyone know what twist rate will be required to stabilize this bullet...

    Rebarreling a Rem.?Best Caliber Choice?

Ever think about re-barreling with about a 1/6" twist and shooting the 90 gr VLD's out of a 22-250? This is something that I've been interested in for a while now. My other choice would be something in a 6.5mm, such as a .260 Rem.

    105gr Amax 1 in 9.25?

I have a Remington 700 in .243, with a factory (not so great barrel) and have good results from this bullet. I've used several different powders, and have settled on Hogden 4350 lit with CCI BR primers. They chrono at about 2865 fps. The BC is good on these bullets and I can't complain. This may...

    Hunting In Utah

I just moved from Idaho about two years ago. I must say that Utah makes hunting too **** difficult, with their limited entry drawings. I know people that get all excited about getting their name in some drawing only to not get selected. My biggest regret when moving here was not somehow keeping...

    243

I too am trying to get a good longrange 243 load. The rifle is a Rem. VLS with a PSS stock, and probably very similar to yours. As for the 105 gr A-MAX, I have found that 31 gr. Varget worked OK. It was on the lower end of the velocity though. 36.7 gr IMR 4350 was a very decent load. I tested...

    95gr smk's anyone tried them?

I just bought a box of SMK 95's and am going to load some up for my 243, using H4350. I talked to one of the Sierra bulletsmiths this morning and he said start at 35 gr. and work up to the max of 41.7 gr. This is a fairly new bullet on the market so there isn't a lot of information on it yet. In...

    Checking tailstock alignment

3 thou using a Jacobs drill chuck isn't that bad. I always found the Albrecht keyless chucks to be far superior to the Jacobs, for precision work. Just don't try to power tap a hole with the Albrecht, because it doesn't have the clamping force that the Jacobs does. I have used the cheaper copies...

    M1A loads

I had very good results with: 168 gr. Sierra Matchkings, 42 gr. Ramshot TAC, Lake City Brass, and WLR primers. This powder burns exceptionally clean, with hardly any black on the brass. With a solid rest I was getting .5 MOA accuracy. Worked great in highpower matches also.

    95 gr. berger vld

Yeah, I probably will rebarrel someday. I would like to shoot this barrel out first, but will probably switch it out before that happens. The 6X284 looks like a good option. I have been reading a little about the 6.5 mm rounds such as the .260 Rem and the 6.5 X .284. Although barrel life is...

    95 gr. berger vld

Hey everyone, I've been lurking around this site for a while now, but just joined and this is my first post. I shoot a Remington 700 VLS in .243 Win. I have been trying to come up with a good long range load for it, so I tried the 105 gr A-MAX with IMR 4350, and Retumbo. It seems as though the...
